Mum, Dad, Harper, and Max went to a picnic they decided to walk, and on the way, they had to cross a wooden bridge, when they were halfway through the wooden bridge. Splash! the wooden bridge broke because of a human cannonball. Harper got scared because the other children were being a pushy kid to him Dads excuse for why he didn't save harper was that he had to hold a colossal fart in. Then out of the near toilets came Yoda! He had a discussion with the kids and dad and they all jumped and said great sarcastically!

We think we got a 4/10
The part that we got wrong was when the human cannonball breaks the bride and the colossal fart. And the Yoda part of course.

Speech written

Hey guys isn't it difficult to choose a speech topic?
Well, I had trouble too...until I had a light-bulb moment!

Hello, my name is Rishi and today I am going to talk about why the light bulb is one of the greatest inventions. A long time ago, in 1879, Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb. What a bright spark!

Imagine life without the lightbulb… darkness after sunset and doing only the basics with candles and oil lamps. But luckily for us, Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb!  He has helped us to illuminate the night.

Thanks to the lightbulb, factories and shops can stay open at night.
We can socialise at night time and enjoy ourselves. Going out for dinner or to the movies wouldn’t be possible without the lightbulb to light the way.  Imagine people turning up to dinner holding fire torches, candles and lanterns… it would be incredibly dangerous and impractical.

Have you ever been to Eden Park? I am sure you have, but if not, they have these massive floodlights, which of course contain special types of light bulbs to light up the stadium at night. Did you know that the longest lasting lightbulb is in a fire station in California?
It has been burning since 1901, WOW!  that was 118 years ago!

The lightbulb is a popular invention that is used in a lot more appliances and products that you may realise.   Did you know that in a school projector, there is a lightbulb? On your car, you have two types of lights your headlights and your brake lights. Popular children’s toys have many lightbulbs to catch attention.  We also use lights for special occasions like Christmas!!! Everyone loves bright Christmas lights!!

Street lights make our roads safer for cars and pedestrians. The humble light bulb is easy to work with - turn on the switch and wallah - light! It is much safer than using candles and oil lamps. For safety, you will notice exit signs in public spaces that enable us to safely come out of halls and stadiums. Brightly lit up signs guide us when darkness falls.
If the lightbulb wasn’t invented we would be still using candles in places that would be dangerous.  Many inventions have come after the lightbulb which continued to improve our lives.
So the humble lightbulb has now sparked our lives and everything around us!

Thank you for listening!!

Well done Rishi.  Your speech was humorous, had good main ideas and examples.  You spoke with good volume. Next steps: Memorise your speech so that you can look up at your audience more, show some expression and use hand gestures.
