Rishi year change

Drones are useful

I don’t know about you guys, but something that I have been really fascinated with are drones.  Did you know that drones were invented by the CIA? They were used to fight enemies and gather data without being spotted.  These days, drones are used to do many other things.

I think that it is really cool that we can use drones to take videos and pictures from far away, and see the beautiful environment that we live in. Did you know in the past year, unmanned drones have delivered textbooks, medical supplies, pizza!!!.   Right now drones aren’t that common in our lives, but here are some ways that we can use drones in the future.

Drones can be used for photography and videos.   There can be difficult places that you can not reach easily. Can you imagine getting to a clifftop with no way up, or a  dangerous forest with wild animals? Well, a drone can with an aerial view high in the sky. They are used in a lot of movies and professional videos to get really cool shots of the scenery.

How can drones help people you may ask? They can help farmers spray crops and plant crops.  Drones can also help the police find criminals on the loose…. The police can use drones to spy on criminals without being seen from remote areas. They can also be used to map areas of land and show us where important resources are.

My brother needs this for his Civil engineering... Cool, I hope he brings one home,,,,yes!!!
I have left this to last because it’s my favourite, when it comes to extreme sports they are extremely useful!! All of the action can be captured from the air and now we can make sure you never miss anything from our Skateboard skills at School...because it’s all on video!!!

Drones can even be helpful to teachers.  Teachers can watch kids from their desk, so watch out kids !

Conclusion
Over all you can see that drones are useful, now I have to go because I hear a drone coming… run!!!!!!

States of matter

States of Matter

Hello there today I am going to tell you about the three different types of Matters. The first matter is solids the second matter liquids and the last matter is Gas.

Solid

A solid is a object that you can't put your hand through, for example a car is a solid . Solids are different from gases and liquids because
Solids can not be changed on its own and the molecules are close together.Solids also have their own shape.

Liquid

Liquids are different from a solid because a liquid can change shapes because the molecules are spread out. Fun fact: Did you know that liquids take place of whatever they are inside. Orange juice, water, milk and wine are different types liquids.

Gases

A gas is a liquid that evaporates into clouds and then it rains down back down to the sea (The water cycle) Did You know: The air that you blow into a balloon is actually a gas so when you let go of the balloon all the gas will escape.

Now you have learnt 3 different states of matter, also that some molecules close together to make a solid, some molecules that are spread apart to make a liquid and molacules that are like going everywhere to make a gas. So now hopefully you have learnt the 3 states of matter.

Soda and Mentos Experiment

School photographs

Dear photographers,

I am writing to you to express my opinion about the way you take and arrange the class photographs.

You should understand that absent people should get their photo photo shopped so when they are older they can look back at the photo and say like wow this is how I looked like when I was younger.

I really feel that it would be better if all the teachers classes will be in one column. For example if there was a teacher called Mr.  it would be in order from 2017 to 2018 and so on.

Everyone knows that the boring old backdrop should be changed from red to the awesome HDS symbol so it can match the uniform and be more appealing.

Last, but not least, I think we should take a photo individually and then a class photo. We can put all the individual photos on the side of the border so people can just look to the side and see the photo bigger.

The Waka

Waka
Aboard the mighty Waka, the fierce warriors paddle tremendously hard. “Ka mate,  Ka mat, kora, kora , Ka mate’’ “Will I die, will I die, will I live, will I live” I said.
Adrenaline travels through my vains. Splash! My powerful oar makes me go forward and back and forward and back. “Squeak” go away eagle. The water glistened as I paddled to war “ uru uru na whetetera hee’’
As I paddled every time the water from the oar  dripped like rain. We are not scared of you!!! We will live!!!

How to Hongi

The Hongi

What is a hongi?

A hongi is the pressing of noses, which symbolises the exchange of the breath of life

When does the hongi happen?

When the tangata whenua side indicates that the speeches are complete, the manuhiri speakers approach the tangata whenua to hongi

What to do.

1. “ Kia Ora “ When you meet a Targata Whenua ( people of the land ) you must shake there hand  firmly  with your right,  also when you shake hands you must have eye contact.

2. After you  shake their hands stop but still hold their hands, now  take your left hand and place Your  hand on the Targata  whenua.

3. This might be funny but for this step you need to be responsible, ok now you have to  touch nose’s just for one second, release your hand from the shoulder and hand

4. It is important to do the hongi properly other why’s they will think that you are rude.

Tane Mahuta

We described a character from the story Papa and Rangi

Tane Mahuta

Tane Mahuta is brother to Tawhirimatea god of winds, Tumatauenga god of war, Rongo ma tane god of peace and Tangaroa god of sea. “We must let Papa have sunlight” commanded Tane Mahuta. He stood up with his tremendous muscles and pushed Rangi up to the sky. “Aue Aue Aue” roared Tane. He went to see his brother Uru and he took his sons (stars) and gifted them to his father. Tane then  seeing his mother decided to clothe her in trees which were filled with flowers, birds, insects and berries. The little birds chirped, the insects buzzed and the flowers bloomed. The sun rose over Papa and bathed her in the light.
